Vauxhall Astra GTC

With its bold, pure and iconic design, the Astra GTC Concept caused quite a stir when it received its debut at the Paris Motor Show on 30 September 2010, giving the strongest hint yet to the Astra Sport Hatch's successor. At 4.46 metres long, the Astra GTC Concept offers ample space for five people, yet still maintains a svelte and sporting appearance, a hint that a production version will not stray far from the rakish lines of the concept. Innovative suspension and drivetrain features also hint at a performance remit.
Since then, the GTC has moved to production model status and is currently undergoing road testing. Order banks for the Astra GTC will open on 7 June 2011, at the same time as full specification information is released.

Meanwhile, the Astra GTC Concept specification as displayed includes:

• A four-cylinder, 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, with direct petrol injection and Start/Stop technology mated to a six-speed manual gearbox providing high levels of performance and excellent fuel efficiency
• The New Astra's unique compound crank/Watt's link rear suspension which provides excellent packaging and secure, driver-focused dynamics
• A specially designed chassis with an extra-wide stance

• An electronic limited slip differential (ELSD) which hints at the car's power potential
• An updated version of Vauxhall's FlexRide® adaptive damping system
